We are thrilled to recognize Mrs. Marianne K. Vickers as this year’s Special Programs Teacher of the Year at Tennessee Virtual Academy (TNVA)—a free, public, at-home school serving students across the great state of Tennessee.

Vickers exemplifies unwavering dedication, compassion, and a deep commitment to building community among her students and colleagues. With over 21 years of experience in education, she began her teaching journey at a young age through service in her church and continued to pursue her passion for education ever since.

A lifelong resident of our community, Vickers graduated from Dresden High School and began her career in education at just 18 years old with the Weakley County School System (WCS). She served as a substitute teacher, then as an Educational Assistant in the Special Programs Department, and ultimately as a Special Education Teacher for over 16 years. During her tenure with WCS, she was honored as Teacher of the Year, a testament to her excellence and impact.

Due to health considerations, Vickers transitioned to virtual teaching and brought her wealth of experience to TNVA. Since joining, she has held numerous leadership roles including: Self-Contained Teacher, Lead Self-Contained Teacher, Special Programs Point of Contact, Lead Special Education Teacher, Compliance Monitor, and Grade-Level Special Education Point of Contact.

Despite the many titles, Vickers remains, above all, a devoted Special Education Teacher, continuously investing in students with the highest needs.

Beyond the classroom, she is deeply involved in her faith community as a Ladies Leader, a supporter of youth initiatives, and a participant in jail ministry outreach.

Vickers is an outstanding educator and a true servant leader. We are proud to celebrate her achievements and her well-deserved recognition as Special Programs Teacher of the Year. Congratulations, MarianneVickers.
