Voters in Weakley County will not have the option to cast ballots early for the upcoming May 5, 2026 primary election, according to an announcement from the Weakley County Election Commission. The commission stated that because there is no opposition in either the Republican or Democratic primaries — and no write-in candidates for any of the offices on the ballot — state law does not require an early voting period for this election. As a result, all voting will take place on Election Day, Tuesday, May 5.While in-person early voting will not be available, eligible voters may still request to vote by mail. To do so, voters must submit a written request that includes their name (as registered), date of birth, Social Security number, residence address, mailing address (if different), the election(s) they wish to vote in, and a valid reason for requesting an absentee ballot. The request must also include the voter’s signature.Applications to vote by mail must be received by the Weakley County Election Commission no later than Saturday, April 25, 2026.Election officials encourage voters with questions about absentee voting or eligibility requirements to contact the election commission office directly for assistance.
