Woman Arrested after Confessing to Breaking into Convenience Store

DRESDEN (August 25) — A Dresden woman was arrested Wednesday, August 19, 2020, on assorted charges involving breaking into a local convenience store.

Police charged Lindsey Carol Wright, 35, with burglary, theft of property under $500 and vandalism.

According to a court affidavit, Wright threw pieces of wood into the entrance glass door of Q-Mart, located at 360 East Main St., and broke the glass.

The defendant then took a few snack cakes and left the business.

While the officers were still at the scene, Wright returned to the store and confessed to the crime, saying “I did that.”

When Lieutenant Bryan Chandler viewed the security camera footage, he observed someone fitting the defendant’s physical appearance and wearing matching clothing had committed the crime.

The report states the door is valued at $3,400 and the snack cakes at $4.

Wright is ordered to appear in Weakley County General Sessions Court Wednesday, August 26 for her preliminary hearing.
