Weakley FCCLA Leadership Hone Skills at State Camp

NASHVILLE (October 29) - Dresden and Westview leaders of Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) joined forces to experience Tennessee’s FCCLA and HOSA State Fall Leadership Camp at Widjiwagan in Nashville last weekend.

Using the theme Mission I’MPOSSIBLE, they participated in activities to develop communication skills, integrity, and team building skills.

DHS advisor Pat Phillips notes that along with developing leadership skills the students also made new friends as well as worked on planning activities for their local FCCLA clubs.

The DHS chapter won the Camp Costume Award with their interpretation of the currently trending Netflix series Squid Game. Students were divided into leadership groups for the weekend, and Dresden’s Jada Buntin won Top Spy with the Green Leadership team.

“Having the opportunity to meet and interact with fellow FCCLA leaders from across the state is always inspiring,” said Westview advisor Lauren Freeman. “But we were especially mindful of how much we can learn from one another after two years without the face-to-face experiences due to COVID precautions. I’m looking forward to living out the planning we accomplished.”

Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) is a Career and Technical Student Organization that functions as an integral part of the Family and Consumer Sciences education curriculum and operates within the school system. Members can explore careers in hospitality and tourism, visual arts and design, education and training and human services.
