Weakley County Jobless Rate Drops to 3.7% in February

Posted

Weakley County’s unemployment rate fell to 3.7% in February, down from 4.5% in January, according to data released by the Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development.

Although the county saw month-to-month improvement, the jobless rate was still higher than the 2.8% reported in February 2024.

The decline aligns with a statewide trend, as 88 of Tennessee’s 95 counties recorded lower unemployment rates in February. Only five counties experienced increases, and two remained unchanged.

Weakley County’s rate falls below the 5% mark shared by the majority of Tennessee counties. Statewide, the seasonally adjusted unemployment rate remained unchanged at 3.7%, while the national rate stood at 4.1%.

County unemployment rates are not seasonally adjusted, meaning they reflect raw employment trends without accounting for seasonal factors.

Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) Employment and Training can help remove barriers to employment through funded education, skills training, and supportive services.

Tennessee will release statewide unemployment data for March on Thursday, April 17, 2025, at 1:30 p.m. CDT.
