WE CARE Ministries To Give Away Groceries Tuesday

MARTIN — WE CARE Ministries will bag and distribute 500 bags of groceries in the WE CARE Parking lot on Tuesday April 21, 5-6:30 p.m. to families who need a little extra help during this time. Anyone can be poor for a moment and these circumstances are definitely beyond their control. Families can drive through the parking lot and volunteers will load the groceries in their cars.

This is an opportunity to bring churches of various denominations together working with a common goal of helping our community through a difficult time.

WE CARE received the mayor’s blessing for this project and we will adhere to the guidelines set down by local officials to wear masks, gloves and maintain distance. Volunteers will place the bagged food in recipients’ cars so no one will have to leave their car.

We cannot do this alone! We need volunteers on Tuesday during the day to help pack the 500 bags from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. and volunteers to work the drive through and load the groceries from 4:30 p.m.-7 p.m.

McDonalds, Burger King, Wendy’s, Sonic and Dairy Queen are working with us to have ice cream vouchers for children of the families. Ruler will be bringing in our monthly truckload of food that we purchase with a lot of extras to give away that night.

We know how difficult it can be when paychecks are not coming in. We encourage any in our community that are struggling to provide food for their families to come through the drive through. Many elderly in our community struggle every day and often have to choose between food and medicine. We want these people to be here to receive a little extra help.

This is something we want to do for our community to show them that they are not alone- we care about this community and want to do our part as the hands and feet of Jesus to show our love and concern and to give all glory to God for the blessings that He provides. We can’t solve all the problems of the world but we are willing to do our part so that families have food on the table.
