Undefeated Dresden Lions Overmatch Gleason Bulldogs

Dresden's football team moved to 9-0 on the season after it dismantled Gleason 55-18 in regional action Friday night.

The Lions' Tristan Jett had himself a night. He carried nine times for 222 yards and five touchdowns, while hauling in one catch for 49 yards and a score. As a result, the Lions captured the regional crown and will be assured of playing their first two post-season games, provided they survive to the second round, at home.

Dresden quarterback Cameron Schlicht was 6-8 for 115 yards and threw a TD pass. Tanner Oliver and Schlicht each had eight tackles. Jaqwan Ellison had two sacks.

Gleason, a team that has resorted to the airborne attack this year, concerned Hodge.

"We haven't faced a lot of passes in a while," he said. "Their quarterback, Crochet, had a big night. His timing was good, and he was getting the ball out. They had some success offensively."

Gleason coach Noah Lampkins was pleased with his team's offensive performance for the most part.

Kirsten Gustafson broke the ice for Gleason with a 15-yard TD catch from Kaiser Crochet. Drake Lehmkuhl hauled in a 20-yard TD pass and Gustafson added a 30-yard TD reception.

"We moved the ball and scored first," said Lampkins. "We scored three touchdowns against their main group, but couldn't do anything defensively."

Lampkins said his ground attack was pretty solid.

"We ran the ball pretty well, too," Lampkins said, pointing out that Drake Lovell and Aiden Lehmkuhl had good nights on the ground.

Hodge said the Gleason game showed him where his team needs to improve.

"We came up with some big stops. We put pressure on our defense," Hodge said. "They made us realize we have things to work on and change."

Gleason, 5-4, will venture to Arnold Stadium when it takes on Halls 7 p.m. Thursday. The Tigers, 2-7, lost to South Fulton 42-7.

The Lions, 9-0, will host Greenfield Thursday night (tonight). The Yellowjackets suffered a 44-0 loss to Lake County last Friday night.
