Trail Camera Aids in Arrest of Couple on Burglary Charges

PALMERSVILLE (April 21) — Weakley County Sheriff’s officers arrested a Palmersville couple on burglary and theft charges after one of the individuals was captured on a trail camera. PALMERSVILLE (April 21) — Weakley County Sheriff’s officers arrested a Palmersville couple on burglary and theft charges after one of the individuals was captured on a trail camera. Dennis Joe Wilmath II, 38, of Matheny Grove Road, is charged with two counts of aggravated burglary, theft of services ($1,000 or less), and evading arrest.Amanda Jean Richardson, 32, of Harold Perry Road, is charged with two counts of aggravated burglary, theft of services ($1,000 or less), simple possession of schedule II, and possession of unlawful drug paraphernalia uses and activities. According to Weakley County Sheriff’s Investigator James Sanders, the couple was arrested on April 21, 2020, in connection with a break-in at a residence, located on Hwy 190 near the old Miller’s Ham House in northeast Weakley County.The homeowner reported she first noticed someone broke into her house and outbuildings on April 1. The stolen items included: a MTD chipper-walking shredder, gardening cart, swing set frame, washing machine, and double outdoor rocking chair. She said someone also laid things out like they were going to come back and get them at a later date. A trail camera at that home captured a photo of a woman taking property and leaving the house at approximately 2:58 p.m. on April 15. The suspect was later identified as Richardson through a Facebook post. The pair was arrested, after being located on Matheny Grove Road. Wilmath was found hiding in the rafters of a garage at that location.Richardson stated she and her boyfriend, Dennis Wilmath, went to the property twice - the first time to case the place, and the second to take things. Richardson added she and Wilmath sold some of the items in Paris. In addition to the stolen items, sheriff’s investigators recovered .28 grams of methamphetamine from Richardson. The two defendants are to appear in Weakley County General Sessions Court on Thursday, May 21.
