Tolbert Junior Barnett 1943 - 2023

Tolbert “Junior” Barnett 79, of Martin, Tennessee, departed his earthly life January 28, 2023. He was born in Saltillo, Mississippi to Willis and Minnie Lee (Hutcheson) Barnett on July 25, 1943.

August 2, 1960, he married Nettie Joyce Goodman whom he loved with all his heart. They were married for 46 years before her passing.

He was a loving, devoted Dad to 4 daughters, Melinda Holdeman (Paul Perkins), Charlotte Lewis (David), Kimberly Barnett Stone (Kris), Jennifer Perez (Bobby) and a multitude of foster kids that lived in their home.

He is survived by 8 grandchildren, Ryan Holdeman, Eric Ogden (Lisa), Sarai Pleasant, Josh Holdeman (Christy), Alex Lewis (Catherine), Lauren Newell (Nick), Marissa Coble (Jeremy) and Riley Ballard. He is survived by 30 great grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his wife (Nettie), parents, sister (Helen Carrington), granddaughter (Morgan Elizabeth Sledd) and 3 angel great grands.

He never attended school but he taught himself to write his name. He became a certified welder, self taught mechanic and architect by sight. His greatest achievement was being a Dad and a Poppa. To know him was to love him. He had very strong family values! His legacy will carry on forever reminding us that family is everything.

Services will be held at Bowlin Funeral Home on Monday, January 30, 2023. Visitation starting at 11:00 with service at 2:00. Honoring Mr. Barnett as pallbearers will be Alex Lewis, Nick Newell, Jeremy Coble, Riley Ballard and David Ballard. Honorary pallbearers will be Paul Perkins, David Lewis, Kris Stone and Bobby Perez. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to Davis Memorial Baptist Church, 728 Davis Memorial Rd., Dresden, TN 38225.
