The Black Avenue returns this weekend for sixth year

Posted

The Black Avenue will return this weekend for its sixth year, taking place April 11 at Festival Park in Martin from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. The event is free and open to the public and continues its mission to highlight entrepreneurship, creativity and community connection through a growing regional marketplace and cultural experience.

Rooted in a commitment to celebrate and support Black-owned businesses, the event has evolved from a local initiative into a multi-city attraction. Vendors and supporters now travel from Martin, Memphis, Nashville and neighboring states, reflecting increased demand for spaces that uplift Black entrepreneurship and the strength of community networks supporting that growth.

This year’s event will feature more than 50 vendors, including food trucks and food vendors, as well as businesses offering products and services across fashion, art, wellness and other industries. The marketplace provides opportunities for both established brands and emerging entrepreneurs to showcase their work, build relationships and connect with new audiences.

In addition to the vendor marketplace, the event offers a cultural gathering space where attendees can experience music, food and direct engagement with creators and business owners. Raffles will be held throughout the event, featuring giveaways from participating vendors and local businesses.

The event is hosted by Keithon Currie, owner of Elevated, along with a team that includes Darnesha Currie, Erica Snipes, Keyarra Williams and a group of volunteers who contribute to organizing and executing the event.

Sponsors supporting The Black Avenue include WCRP, US Donuts, Martin’s Best Fish & Chicken, Local Street Cookie Co., Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity Inc. KO Chapter, HD Graphics and Aguilar Rentals. Their contributions help sustain the event’s continued growth and impact.

Now in its sixth year, The Black Avenue continues to serve as a platform for cultural expression, collaboration and the advancement of Black-owned businesses.
