Tennessee has 667 Cases of Coronavirus (COVID-19)

Tennessee (March 24) — Tennessee now has 667 persons who have tested positive for the Coronavirus (COVID-19) as of 2 p.m. on Tuesday, March 24, 2020.

According to the Tennessee Department of Health, Carroll County now has three persons who tested positive, one of which is in McKenzie. The local health departments will not identify the city of residence. Weakley County Mayor Jake Bynum indicated the state statistics showed one in Weakley on Monday, however, the person who presented himself or herself at a Weakley Count medical facility and tested positive, actually resides in Carroll.

Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is a respiratory illness that can spread from person to person. The virus that causes COVID-19 is a novel coronavirus that was first identified during an investigation into an outbreak in Wuhan, China. Additional cases have been identified in a growing number of other international locations, including the United States.

Patients with COVID-19 have had mild to severe respiratory illness with symptoms of: fever, cough, and shortness of breath. It is 10 times more deadly than influenza.

Nationwide, there are a total of 44,183 cases (up from 33,404 one day earlier) with 544 deaths (400 one day earlier). Many major cities have closed all commerce, schools, bars and restaurants plus ordered citizens to shelter in place.

Davidson County has the largest number with 183 (164 yesterday), Shelby has 99 (93 one day earlier), Williamson 64 (53 one day earlier). In other west Tennessee counties, Weakley has none, Chester 1, Dyer 2, Fayette 2, Gibson 2 (1 one day earlier), Tipton 6, and Hardin 1.

The ages of the confirmed cases are: 0-9 years, 9; 11-20, 41; 21-30, 193; 31-40, 126; 41-50, 89; 51-60, 91; 61-70, 65; 71-80, 34, and 80-plus, 12. Unknown age is 7.
