McKENZIE (December 4) – Tennessee College of Applied Technology (TCAT) McKenzie congratulated Jennifer Woodson for being nominated for the Statewide Outstanding Achievement Recognition (SOAR) Award. Every year the Tennessee Board of Regents, College System of Tennessee, awards one student out of the 26 Tennessee Colleges of Applied Technology campuses with a Student SOAR Award.

This year, Woodson, an Industrial Maintenance Integrated Automation student from Dresden, was nominated to represent TCAT McKenzie. Woodson maintained an overall 3.3 cumulative GPA during her enrollment of at least 450 clock hours. She has exhibited exemplary academic accomplishments by being involved in SkillsUSA, Leadership 101 and inducted into the National Technical Honor Society.

Woodson works in manufacturing at MTD Products in Martin. She is seeking a job related to Continuous Improvement/Optimization in the renewable-energy manufacturing sector. She plans to accomplish this goal by following her educational plan. She is gaining the technical knowledge she needs to supplement her Bachelor of Science degree in business she plans to complete next year.

She is gaining an understanding of how machines and robotics work to be more productive in optimization in a manufacturing environment.

Woodson chose Industrial Maintenance at TCAT McKenzie to achieve the knowledge and hands-on training she needs to be successful in the job she is looking for.

In a press release, officials noted, “TCAT McKenzie would like to congratulate Jennifer on this nomination and look forward to seeing her accomplish future endeavors after she graduates.”
