Posted
Staff Reports
In Such Wonder, a recently published collection of poems by Jonel Sallee, will be the focus of a special reading by the poet from 6:30 - 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 10, in the Tennessee Room at Martin Public Library.
Sallee, a writer currently based in Kentucky but with deep connections to West Tennessee, has spent most of her life in academic studies and teaching at both high school and university levels. In Such Wonder is her third poetry chapbook.
For this reading, Sallee will be joined by several friends who will each read a poem.
One reviewer commented about In Such Wonder: "Open this collection of poems and be enchanted. Share the poet's wonder as she travels through museums, cathedrals, ancient lands."
Please mark your calendars and plan to attend this poetry reading, complete with visuals, several surprises, and refreshments.
The event is co-sponsored by library staff and members of Friends of the Library in celebration of National Poetry Month, which was launched by the Academy of American Poets in 1996 as a yearly celebration held in April to raise awareness and appreciation for poetry and poets.
