More than 40 Kiwanians attended the Kiwanis 2022-23 Mid-Year Regional Education Conference, which was hosted by the Martin Kiwanis Club and held February 18 at the Bowling University Center in Martin.

The day began after breakfast as the governor met with club presidents from the region. Lunch was also served.

Sessions included presentations about increasing membership, applying for Kiwanis Foundation grants, and planning a signature club project. Drawings for the eleven gift baskets and numerous door prizes also kept the event moving forward.

Among those attending from the Louisiana-Mississippi-West Tennessee District of Kiwanis International were Governor Bruce Hammatt, Division 1A, Lt. Governor John Lowrance, and Region 1 Trustee John Fry.

Attending from the Martin Kiwanis Club were Roberta Peacock, David Sudberry. Anna Clark, Jayne Parrish, Ann Gathers, Frank Black, Linda Ramsey, Joyce Washington, Steve Lemond, and Jim Clark.

At the luncheon meeting of Martin Kiwanis Club, President Ann Gathers presented a check to Gov. Hammatt for a donation in his honor to the Kiwanis House of Baton Rouge.

Past District Governor Linda Ramsey, who was one of the organizers for this mid-year regional event, said: "We accomplished something that's never been done by hosting more than 40 people in Martin." She noted that 46 persons had registered but several had to cancel at the last moment.
