National Night Out, hosted by the Weakley County Prevention Coalition, took place on October 8 at Weldon Park in Martin. The event is put on to heighten crime and drug prevention awareness, generate support and participation in crime efforts and strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community.
This event has been taking place for years now, with the community continuously showing great participation. Community members are encouraged to spend the night out with their neighbors, local police officers, firefighters, and EMS paramedics.
Food was handed out during this event, vendors were set up, music was playing, and there were many activities for children. The Martin Police and Fire Department held a Touch A Truck activity, a child fingerprint ID booth was available, a car seat check point was available, and there was a community health fair.
The National Night Out has been proven to be an enjoyable program that helps to relationships and connections with local law enforcement, firefighters, and EMS paramedics, as well as help to fight for a safer nation.
