Lovebird Feature: The Milbraths

Posted

In our 2nd annual ‘Nominate your Favorite Lovebirds’ feature, our winner is Benjamin and Danielle Milbrath. Their story submission exemplifies the spirit of love and commitment. The Milbraths won a Valentine’s gift basket full of goodies which they picked up at their convenience the week of Valentine’s Day. Their story, written by Danielle, is as follows:

Our love story started in 2012 at Fred’s Dollar Store in Dresden TN. I was a senior in college, preparing to graduate that winter. Benjamin walked up to my counter where I was a cashier. He was purchasing protractors for his classroom. As a teacher, he has tax exemption for classroom supplies. When he handed me his tax exemption card, I memorized his name to look him up on Facebook after my shift. To my surprise, he had already added me.

We talked off and on for the next year. My older brother and Bens best friend at the time were also very good friends. Word quickly got around that we were talking. My brother urged me to give this man a shot, as “he’s a good guy, Danielle”.

Benjamin and I went on our first date on Tuesday, August 6, 2013 to Los Portales. By that weekend, my cat and I were practically living at his house in Palmersville. We have been inseparable since our first date.

Fast forward to December 23, 2015, he surprised me with a trip to Opry Mills to see the Christmas lights. Unbeknownst to me, he was a man on a mission. He was looking for the biggest tree he could find. When we finally came across it, he excitedly said “There it is! Let’s get a picture”. When he handed my phone to a complete stranger, he told the woman to take a bunch of photos. I had no idea what was happening until this man got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. Of course I immediately said yes. For the remainder of our visit to Opry Mills, I went on and on about how I was so excited to “become an M”!

On our third-year anniversary, August 6, 2016, Benjamin and I vowed to love and cherish each other for forever in front of our friends and family at the farm. In March 2018, we welcomed our first boy, Emmitt. In May 2020, we welcomed our second boy, Mason.

Today, in 2025, we are happily married, living on the Milbrath Farm in Palmersville with our two boys, two dogs and six cats. I will forever be grateful for Fred’s Dollar Store, where it all began.

We hope our readers enjoyed our winning lovebird’s story as much as we did. Stay tuned next year, Valentine’s Day 2026 so that you can have another chance to nominate your favorite lovebird’s in our 3rd Annual “Nominate Your Favorite Lovebird’s Valentine’s Edition.”
