Local Students Receive UT Martin Honors Day Awards

MARTIN — Eighteen Weakley County students received awards from the University of Tennessee at Martin in recognition of their achievements in scholarship and citizenship during the 2019-20 academic year. All honorees are residents of Martin unless otherwise noted.

Marlee Wilson received the Outstanding Family and Consumer Science Graduate Student Award.

Amanda Mayo received the Outstanding Geosciences Major Student Award.

Brooklyn Snider of Dresden received the Outstanding Health and Human Performance Student Award.

Aalia Bivens received the Outstanding Agricultural Business Student Award.

Ian Gambo received the William H. Baker Scholarship Award.

Kyle Carter received the Outstanding Chemistry Major Award and the David S. Loebbaka Award.

Joseph Pelren received the Lower Division Chemistry Award and the Cunningham Outstanding Freshman Award.

Adam Winschel received the Lower Division Chemistry Award.

Vivica Miller of Sharon received the James Byford Conservation Award.

Beth Moon received the Student Group of the American Association of Family and Consumer Sciences Award.

Boone Brown received the Gallien Award.

Samantha Clayton received the Louise Knifley Memorial Scholarship Award.

Shannon Merrell of Palmersville received the Robert G. Cowser Literary Award in Poetry and the John E. McCluskey Literary Award in the Scholarly/Critical Paper Award.

Djhson Elma received the Scholarly Essay in a Modern Foreign Language Award.

Enrico Zoboli received the David S. Loebbaka Award.

Abigale Plunk received the Allison Nelson Award.

Michelle Fieser received the Ernest and Wilma Newby Scholarship Award.

John Carr received the Norman Lillegard Outstanding Philosophy Student Award.

UT Martin hosts an annual Honors Day Program in the spring to recognize each award recipient. However, due to the COVID-19 crisis, the in-person ceremony was canceled, and students were notified of their awards by the Office of the Chancellor. For more information, visit utm.edu.
