Local Nonprofit Joins Global Punch-A-Thon Against Parkinson’s –Fight Back Fundraiser

Posted

Martin Wellness Center will be hosting their Fight Back Fundraiser we are having with our Rock Steady Boxing program that will be held at Martin Wellness Center on April 11th.

Rock Steady Boxing (RSB), the groundbreaking nonprofit that has empowered people with Parkinson’s disease (PD) through non-contact boxing since 2006, is launching the Fight Back Fundraiser, a one-minute Punch-A-Thon on April 11, 2025—World Parkinson’s Day. The global event unites fighters, supporters, and affiliates in an all-out effort to raise awareness and critical funding for the 10 million people worldwide battling PD.

With 800+ affiliates across the U.S. and in 14 countries, Rock Steady Boxing has proven to be a game-changer for those living with Parkinson’s. Scientific research has shown RSB’s specialized boxing program can improve balance, reduce falls, and alleviate non-motor symptoms such as anxiety and depression—enhancing overall quality of life.

Fighting Back, One Punch at a Time
Participants in the Punch-A-Thon will have one minute to throw as many punches as possible, securing per-punch sponsorships or general donations to support RSB programs. Fighters can box on behalf of their local RSB affiliate or join the RSB HQ team, participating in person or from the comfort of their own home.

Why This Matters
Parkinson’s disease affects 1 million people in the U.S. and 10 million worldwide, with 90,000 new diagnoses annually—a 50% increase from previous estimates. Despite its prevalence, Parkinson’s remains one of the most underfunded neurodegenerative diseases.

How Funds Will Be Used
Proceeds from the Fight Back Fundraiser will be used to:

  • Provide exclusive grant opportunities to RSB affiliates for new equipment, coach training, and expanded class offerings.
  • Strengthen RSB’s marketing, advocacy, and training initiatives to broaden access to life-changing boxing programs.
  • Develop an ambassador and mentorship program to support individuals living with Parkinson’s.
  • Expand quality of life programs that empower people with Parkinson’s to fight back and maintain independence.

Join the Fight
Anyone can participate by signing up to box, making a donation, or spreading the word. To find a local affiliate and find more details visit RockSteadyBoxing.org to register for the event or make a donation visit FightBackFundraiser.com

Together, we can Fight Back and deliver a knockout punch to Parkinson’s.

About Rock Steady Boxing
Founded in Indianapolis in 2006 by Scott Newman, a former prosecutor diagnosed with early-onset Parkinson’s, Rock Steady Boxing has grown into an international movement. The first affiliates launched in Cleveland, Boston, Richmond (IN), and Grand Rapids, MI, and the program has since expanded worldwide. RSB’s research-backed method is changing the fight against Parkinson’s disease one punch at a time.
