Members of the Dresden Elementary, Dresden Middle, and Greenfield Junior High cross country teams traveled to Victor Ashe Park in Knoxville for the 2022 Tennessee State Elementary and Middle School Cross Country Championships.

Beginning with Greenfield, Deegan Arant was the sole runner for the school to compete this year. He raced the two-mile run and finished in 9th place with a time of 11:52. Arant was also named to the Cross Country All-State Team.

Dresden Middle School’s girls team finished 7th against all 32 teams with the individuals making their mark this year. On the girls team, sixth graders Hudson McDaniel and Sasha Rodriguez were respectively the first and second fastest runners for their grade in the state. McDaniel came in 10th for the two-mile with 13:23 and Rodriquez finished 26th with 13:50.

Seventh grader Bailey Warbington was 50th with 14:16, while sixth graders Jillien Gallimore and Kynlee Summers finished with a time of 15:20 and 15:45 respectively. Seventh graders Lily Pash, 174th, and Caroline Stephenson, 207th, finished the girls race.

For the Dresden Middle boys team, eighth grader Christian Pash finished in 74th place, completing the two-miles with 12:59. Rylan Davis, also an eighth grader, finished 189. Sixth grader Miles Cary did not finish.

Dresden Elementary School’s teams raced for one mile and the girls team finished in 4th place. Fifth grader Peyton Oliver was the first girl to finish for Dresden, placing 13 with a time of 5:58. Emzy Collins, fourth grade, was 19th with 6:08. Fourth grader Nella Wilhite came in 57th with 6:30; fifth grader Kinsley Smith was 6:37 and in 71st place; Maggie Robinson was 77th with 6:38; and third grader Taelyn Trevathan was 117 with 6:53. Willow Erwin finished with 6:45; Aurora Sides with 7:05 and Liv Killebrew with 7:07.

In the boys race, fourth grader Dax Rainey finished in 100th place with a time of 6:17, while fellow fourth grader Trace Smith was 103rd with a time of 6:18.
