Weakley County has an unsung hero. To correct this, I want to sing her praises. Michelle Nichols, like Deborah Janes before her, quietly keeps our home clean. She worked alone during the pandemic and it is no easy feat to keep the county litter free.
Some of our citizens see nothing wrong with throwing out trash alongside the road or ridding themselves of unwanted furniture or tires in ditches. Removing these items is hard work.
Thankfully, Michelle now has assistance. To request that items be removed, all one has to do is call (731)-364-6798. All counties in Tennessee have a Litter Grant program. I doubt any of them have staff that works any harder than Weakley County.
