Law enforcement investigates suspicious emails sent to Greenfield School administrators

School officials were notified Monday morning of two suspicious emails that were received by administrators at Greenfield School. Law enforcement was immediately notified, and an investigation was launched.

While the school day operated as normal and there was no evidence of any threat to school safety, a notification was sent to parents notifying them of the increased presence of law enforcement at the school in an effort to help everyone feel more secure.

Through the course of the investigation, local law enforcement worked in tandem with the Department of Homeland Security to identify that the source of the emails originated as far away as Texas. Officials did not find the emails to be credible.

Greenfield School Principal Jamie Doster said that the support of parents is appreciated.

“The safety of students, faculty, and staff is taken seriously at Greenfield School. We shared accurate information from our notification system with parents as soon it was available. We appreciate the parents and guardians in our community who trust law enforcement to investigate, while teachers and students continue teaching and learning. The school day ran on schedule, and students were excited to begin another great Homecoming Week at school with their friends,” Doster acknowledged.

Director of Schools Jeff Cupples added, “We are thankful for our local law enforcement officers who jump into action as soon as they are notified of something suspicious related to our schools. A big thanks to all involved for this quick response that allowed teachers and students to focus on their work and school day.”
