Kustoff Makes Weakley County Visits

8th District U.S. Congressman David Kustoff visited Greenfield Banking Company during his tour of Weakley County Friday, February 18. While there, he met with Greenfield Banking Company President Randy Huffstetler (L) and District 76th State Representative Tandy Darby (R), who is a Greenfield resident.

U.S. Congressman for the 8th District of West Tennessee David Kustoff (L to R) made a stop at West TN PBS, headquartered in Martin, to meet with General Manager Mike Peery during his Weakley County visit on Friday.

U.S. Congressman David Kustoff visited with Dr. Nassar Nassar Friday where the pair talked about support for law enforcement. Dr. Nassar is owner of Savant Learning Systems in Martin, which provides a virtual academy for law enforcement agencies across the globe.

WEAKLEY COUNTY (February 18) - 8th District Congressman David Kustoff made several stops during his visit to Weakley County Friday, February 18.

The U.S. Congressman provided legislative updates, while also offering support to area industries and business leaders.

During his visit, Kustoff offered an update from Washington during the Weakley County Legislative Breakfast, hosted by the Weakley County Chamber of Commerce and Weakley County Economic Development office. The event was held Friday, February 18, in the ballroom of the Boling University Center on the UT Martin Campus.

“I joined Weakley County Mayor Jake Bynum and State Representative Tandy Darby at the Weakley County Legislative Breakfast. I gave an update on what is happening in Washington and enjoyed hearing about the important issues affecting West Tennesseans. Thank you for having me,” Kustoff noted in a press release.

From there, Kustoff visited Savant Learning Systems, headquartered in downtown Martin and owned by Dr. Nassar Nassar. Savant Learning Systems offers a virtual academy for law enforcement agencies across the world, among other virtual programs. Kustoff said he and Nassar discussed how to “continue to best provide for our brave men and women in law enforcement.”

Noting he was able to sit down with his friend, Mike Peery, General Manager of West TN PBS, which is headquartered in Martin and serves 16 counties throughout West Tennessee, the congressman thanked Peery for his continued service to West Tennessee.

Kustoff was also welcomed at Greenfield Banking Company, where he met with the bank’s president Randy Huffstetler and Greenfield resident, 76th State Representative Tandy Darby for a discussion on support of banks in West Tennessee.

Last week, Kustoff cosponsored a bill (The Ban IRS Biometrics Act) that would prohibit the IRS from gathering and using any biometric data from American taxpayers.

“Requiring Americans to use facial recognition to file their taxes is a massive invasion of privacy,” Kustoff noted.
