The 2022 football season came to a close Friday night for the Greenfield High School Yellow Jackets as they fell to the Lake County Falcons 54-6 at home in a final region contest.

The Jackets scored their lone touchdown on a big 60-yard pass from freshman Easton Sullivan to senior Matt Scates.

The Jackets, who finish out this year 1-8 overall and 0-5 in regional competition, are not advancing into postseason play.

And while it has been a trying season, Greenfield head coach Russ Brown said he is hoping that he and the team can made a fresh start during the offseason and work on building a solid foundation for next year.

“We are all looking forward to a complete offseason,” said Brown. “Since I got hired so late and my first practice day with the players was July 11, I am looking forward to slowing things down for the next couple of weeks and getting to know them a little better. We did not have time do that this summer. We had to go full hard on football. It will be nice to find out their likes, dislikes, and more about them and their families. We now have time to build the relationships the right way.”
