In-Person Court Hearings Suspended in State

WEAKLEY COUNTY (January 15) - On January 15, the Supreme Court Justices of Tennessee extended the suspension of in-person court proceedings. The suspension is in place through March 31, 2021.

Proceedings necessary to protect constitutional rights of criminal defendants including bond related matters, preliminary hearings for incarcerated individuals, and plea agreements for incarcerated individuals will still proceed with court.

“My staff and I are working diligently trying to reach any and all parties involved with court cases. We are mailing letters and postcards. In some cases we are even making personal phone calls. We want the public to know that we are here working hard to serve the citizens of Weakley County. Should anyone have a question about a court case, filing paperwork or making a payment, please do not hesitate to call the office,” Weakley County Circuit Court Clerk Jenny Killebrew noted.

The following court dates have been continued: (Court dates for incarcerated defendants may differ from the following lists)

General Sessions Arraignments at 2 p.m.

Court scheduled for February 1, 4 and 8 is continued to April 15.

Court dates set for February 11, 18, 22, and 25 are rest to April 12.

General Sessions Preliminary Hearings at 8:30 a.m.

Court set for February 3 and 10 are rest for April 7.

Court set for February 17 is moved to April 14.

Cases set for February 24 are scheduled for April 28.

Court set for March 3 is rest for May 5.

General Sessions Review Hearings at 3 p.m.

Hearings scheduled for February 11 are rest to April 18.

Cases set for February 25, March 11 and 25 are postponed until April 22.

General Sessions License Court at 10 a.m.

Cases set for February 12 and March 12 are moved to April 9.

General Sessions Trooper Court at 10 a.m.

Cases set for February 19 are moved to April 16.

Those set for March 26 are moved to May 21.

General Sessions Financial Management Class set for March 20 at 1 p.m. is continued to May 15 at 1 p.m.

General Sessions Driving School set for March 11 at 6 p.m. is continued to April 8 at 6 p.m.

General Sessions Civil Dockets have been individually re-set. Reset letters will be sent out accordingly.

Those with attorneys are asked to confirm reset dates and times with their lawyers.

All dates are subject to change pending any new orders from the Supreme Court.
