Hillview Celebrates Hometown Heroes

Posted

Hillview Community Living Center celebrated hometown heroes in their first annual event aimed at appreciating local emergency services such as EMT’s, police, Sheriff’s Department, Dispatch, Fire Departments and Rescue Squads.

Activities Director, Valerie Ashley, spearheaded the event with help from all the staff as a way to say thank you to the heroes of the community and also as a way to introduce Hillview’s new Director, Ryan Hargrove, who will be replacing Interim Director Crisper Stanford who came all the way from Mississippi to help the team find a permanent director.

Hargrove is originally from Union City, but now resides in Paris.

“He has many local connections and we’re very excited to have him on board,” Stanford commented.

Staff at Hillview grilled hotdogs and hamburgers and served baked beans, potato salad, drinks and ice-cream for emergency personnel, staff, residents and Dresden Mayor Mark Maddox who attended the event.

Staff played “Bad Boys” by INNA as Dresden Police arrived to the event to the delight of the residents who were looking forward to hearing sirens and seeing the lights on the emergency vehicles.

Residents of Hillview greeted emergency personnel lined up parade form with signs they worked hard on to show their appreciation. One Resident, Miss Rose, was overjoyed as she got to climb inside a police vehicle and turn the sirens on.

The event hosted approximately 50 attendees and Ashley hopes that they will be able to continue having the event every year to show appreciation to local heroes.
