DRESDEN (May 26) — Dresden Farmers Market opens June 6, 2020. However, shopping for fresh garden produce is somewhat different this year, with the implementation of certain safety measures necessitated by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Dresden Farmers Market Manager DeDe Morris outlines procedures for vendors and customers to follow and provides a map indicating proper traffic flow below:
Vendors
• Try to have two people at the vendor’s table - one person bags purchase while the other one puts the item in the car and takes money. If not, we will try to have runners to assist.
• No tablecloths. This will make the tables easier to sanitize.
• All tables and chairs will be sanitized before being put up.
• Vendors must have sanitizer, gloves, and wear a mask at each table. If you touch your face, money, EBT tokens or any other surface aside from produce or prepared goods, you must change your gloves immediately.
• To meet EPA guidelines for disinfectants for COVID-19, regular hand sanitizer meets these guidelines, as do bleach wipes and solutions containing 70% isopropyl alcohol.
• If customers are paying by check or cash, have a box people can place their money. Round up your prices to the nearest dollar to avoid coins. Do not handle the contents of the cash box for 24 hours or more.
• If you have been diagnosed with COVID-19 or have been exposed to anyone testing positive for COVID-19, please do not come to the market.
• If you feel sick, please stay home.
• Vendors can do pre-orders if they have online orders already set up and are set up to take credit payments. Have item(s) packaged and ready for car delivery.
• They can use pop up tents but must be safely secured in the street.
• No Sampling.
Customers
• Ask customers to wait in their vehicles.
• Request customers to pop their trunk (vendors or staff can place items in the truck) or put them in the back seat.
• Ask customers to bring small bills.
• Remind all customers to wash the product before using it.
Using EBTs at the Market
• If you need EBT, please pull over to the Information Station and we will help you with your transaction.
• We will place used tokens in a Ziploc bag, date, and sanitize. The dated bags will be stored for at least a month.
• Sanitize electronics with every use.
• Sanitizer, gloves, and mask at Information table.
