Dresden Cross Country Completes Twilight Race

Dresden cross country athletes competed in the Memphis Twilight races against hundreds from all over the country this weekend. Schools from all over the United States take part in this highly competitive race every year. Middle Schools raced 2000 meters and High School ran a 5k.

Leading the DMS girls was Hudson McDaniel, 2nd of a total of 210 competitors with a time of 6:53 for 2000 meters. Dresden girls dominated the top 20 spots with Sasha Rodrigez (6th), Peyton Oliver (9th), Maggie Robinson (17th), and Emzy Collins (19th). Also helping with Dresden’s impressive team score were Nella Wilhite (26th),  Willow Eriwin (52nd), Gwendowlyn Bounds (70th), Maci Jo Buckley (126th), Emilee Farrell (133rd) and Kinlee Harris (139th).  Dresden Middle School Girls brought home 2nd place of 15 highly competitive teams.

The Dresden Middle School Boys XC team was led by Miles Cary who placed 14th  with a time of 6:53  out of 271 athletes for the 2K. Benjamin Pettit was also in the top 20 competitors, placing 20th with a time of 7:06. Dax Rainey came in 88th and Sebastian Hubbard placed 260th.  Dresden Middle School races next at Ridgemont Elementary School in Union City Thursday after school.

Dresden High School boys cross country team placed 26th out of 41 teams competing. With 323 athletes racing,  Vaughn Bounds placed 73rd with a time of 18:12. Also competing for DHS boys were Carson Brownlow-Rendon (167th), Chrisian Pash (183rd), Brice Rother (201nd), Jesse Pash (238th), and Carter Oliver (293rd).

DHS Girls placed 18th out of 28 teams. Bailey Warbington (71st) was Dresden’s top female finisher with a time of 22:23, followed by Lily Pash (101st) with a time of 23:32. Caroline Stephenson placed 134th, Alivia Rainey (167th), Molly Robinson (193rd) and Tess Ogg (195th).  Dresden High School races again, Thursday, Sept. 5th at the Lexington Soccer complex.
