DMS Track and Field Competes at the Dyersburg Big Kahuna races

The Dresden Middle School track and field team competed in the Dyersburg Big Kahuna races Saturday, April 12^th.

The Girls team finished 5^th overall. Sasha Rodriquez brought home the gold for the 400-meter race, with a time of 1:08. Emzy Collins and Emillee Farrell also participated in the 400. Another first-place finisher was Hudson McDaniels in the 1600m (5:16 min). McDaniels was followed closely by teammate, Peyton Oliver, who finished 2^nd with a time of 5:29. Maggie Robinson finished 4^th (6:38). The girls 4x400 meter relay team (Oliver, Kinlee Summers, Rodriquez and McDaniels) also earned first place with a time of 4:30 min. Summers also placed 4^th in the 100-meter races. Nella Wilhite earned 4^th place in the 800-meter race with a time of 2:49. Also competing for DMS girls was Jaylee Roark (100m, 200m), Brentley Bowers (100m, 200m), Taelyn Travathan (800 m - 5^th place), Gwendolyn Bounds (800 m -6^th place), Kinsley Smith (100-hurdles), and Charly Kate Harrison (shotput and discus).

DMS boys finished 6^th as a team. Miles Cary a earned top spot in the 1600 meter finishing a close 2^nd with a time of 5:07. Benjamin Pettit followed closely behind finishing 4^th with a time of 5:12. [Jackson Woodrough of Martin Middle finished 3^rd], Dax Rainey finished the 1600 m 11th. Cary and Pettit finished strong in the 800 meter earing 3^rd and 4^th respectively. Dax Rainey also participated in the 800 finishing 14^th. Competing in the 400 m were Pettit (9^th), Cary (11^th), Rainey (17^th). Sebastian Hubbard competed in the 200m, shotput and discus.
