The Dresden Middle School track and field team competed in the Dyersburg Big Kahuna races Saturday, April 12th.
The Girls team finished 5th overall. Sasha Rodriquez brought home the gold for the 400-meter race, with a time of 1:08. Emzy Collins and Emillee Farrell also participated in the 400. Another first-place finisher was Hudson McDaniels in the 1600m (5:16 min). McDaniels was followed closely by teammate, Peyton Oliver, who finished 2nd with a time of 5:29. Maggie Robinson finished 4th (6:38). The girls 4x400 meter relay team (Oliver, Kinlee Summers, Rodriquez and McDaniels) also earned first place with a time of 4:30 min. Summers also placed 4th in the 100-meter races. Nella Wilhite earned 4th place in the 800-meter race with a time of 2:49. Also competing for DMS girls was Jaylee Roark (100m, 200m), Brentley Bowers (100m, 200m), Taelyn Travathan (800 m - 5th place), Gwendolyn Bounds (800 m -6th place), Kinsley Smith (100-hurdles), and Charly Kate Harrison (shotput and discus).
DMS boys finished 6th as a team. Miles Cary a earned top spot in the 1600 meter finishing a close 2nd with a time of 5:07. Benjamin Pettit followed closely behind finishing 4th with a time of 5:12. [Jackson Woodrough of Martin Middle finished 3rd], Dax Rainey finished the 1600 m 11th. Cary and Pettit finished strong in the 800 meter earing 3rd and 4th respectively. Dax Rainey also participated in the 800 finishing 14th. Competing in the 400 m were Pettit (9th), Cary (11th), Rainey (17th). Sebastian Hubbard competed in the 200m, shotput and discus.
