After 22 years of delighting audiences with their symphony of melodies, the David Johnson Chorus is presenting a Farewell Tour and offering community members a Christmas concert at First Baptist Church in Dresden Saturday, December 12.

DRESDEN (November 22) - The renowned David Johnson Chorus is bringing the Christmas portion of its Farewell Tour to First Baptist Church in Dresden on Saturday, December 12.

After 22 years of entertaining people throughout this region and the nation, DJC will come to an end next spring.

But for now, the chorus is primed and ready to bring one of its popular “Come Celebrate Christmas!” shows to Dresden First Baptist. The free concerts will begin at 7 p.m.

“I’m really looking forward to giving audiences something to be joyful about in the face of so much turmoil that 2020 has brought us. This will be everyone’s last chance to hear us at Christmas time,” said Director David Johnson.

Families have made attending these concerts part of their Christmas tradition because of the heart-warming and entertaining music. They enjoy the “magic” that the David Johnson Chorus has become famous for. Besides singing traditional Christmas songs like “White Christmas” and “I’ll Be Home for Christmas,” this year’s show will also feature a cantata composed and arranged by Mary McDonald, one of the most popular composers and arrangers of Christian music today. The show is a celebration of the spirit of Christmas and of the wonderful gift of God’s Son to the world.

General Manager Gail Jercinovich said the chorus is excited to perform for a live audience at Dresden FBC, which has plenty of space for social distancing and has had live services – with appropriate safety protocols – for the last several months.

“We can’t wait to see those smiling faces!” she said.

The 35-member chorus has performed in Washington, D.C.; Cincinnati, Ohio; St. Louis, Missouri; Provo, Utah; Asheville, North Carolina; Atlanta, Georgia; and all across the state of Tennessee.
