The City of Greenfield held a swearing-in ceremony prior to their November board meeting in which Judge Tommy Moore swore in the mayor and alderman. Mayor Cindy McAdams was sworn in and will be serving another term and aldermen Donald Ray High, Randy Potts, Brad Borneman and RayAnn Ewing were sworn in as well. Donald Ray High was appointed as Vice-Mayor as the alderman that received the most votes for the election. This was approved unanimously.
The city approved a bid for a fence around the water lab. Director Robert Rodriguez stated that Quality Fence our of Medina was awarded the bid in the amount of $7,650. The water department plans to put in a new generator in the fenced area. This was approved unanimously.
The water department also received a grant for water meters in the amount of $622,000. Rodriguez stated that they would get between 4-6 days back a month instead of having to read meters so it will help them out quite a bit.
The city approved the remaining expense for the pavilion with donated funds. This does not come out of the city’s money.
The city approved a quote to replace the fence by the Veteran’s Park Playground. Quality Fence won the bid. The fence will be taken down and the area will be roped off until Quality Fence finishes the project.
Amendments were made to the Beer Ordinance which include a deadline of 6 a.m. instead of 10 a.m. to accommodate the factory workers so it doesn’t violate their rights to buy alcohol. This passed 7-0 with Randy Potts abstaining.
Christmas Greenfield style will be held Saturday, December 7 at 4 p.m. with Santa, Christmas caroling, Christmas tree lighting at 5 p.m. and at 5:30 p.m. there will be a Christmas dance party for kids in the community room. Citizens appreciation day will be Dec. 10 at City Hall.
The next regularly scheduled board meeting will be held on Dec. 10 at 5:30 p.m.
