MARTIN (December 7) - The entire staff of C. E. Weldon Library in Martin stepped outside on Monday, December 7, to accept checks presented by Anna Clark, vice president of the Fortnightly Club, a group that has a long history of supporting the local library. Donations included a check for $250 to Martin Public Library for the new library and a check for $90 for Reading Railroad. Club members said they are most pleased to support the new library and reading with these donations.
A report about the donations was given at the December 7 Zoom meeting of the club where 17 of the 24 members were present, and Susie Walker, club president presided. Jo Kathryn Maddox, secretary, read the minutes from the November meeting, and Carolyn James, treasurer, gave the treasurer’s report. Others (not previously mentioned) zooming in for the lively discussion were Carolyn Brown, Maggie Byars, Frances Cates, Judy Clark, Vicki Exum, Mollie Gallien, Carol Gibson, Carolyn Gresham, Ann Hall, Marie Nielsen, Sara Sieber, Barbara Trentham, and Jenna Wright.
