Splash in the Park

The City of Dresden and Dresden Park and Recreation invites the public to “Splash In The Park” at Wilson Park on Saturday, July 20th from 2 – 4 pm.  Splash in the Park will be located at, 589 Evergreen St. Dresden, TN.  Families are encouraged to bring their children for a fun-filled afternoon of a slip- ‘n- slide, bubbles, and water games.  Concessions will be available.  For more information, please, call DeDe Morris at Dresden City Hall (731)-364-2270 or email



West Union Baptist Church will be having Homecoming on July 14.  Featured Group will be “With Willing Heart” at 10:30 a.m. with Bro. Terry Griffin.  Singing will be from 10:30 a.m. to 11:15.  Bro Terry will be preaching and Homecoming dinner in the fellowship hall will be around noon.    Singing will be held after the meal.


New Salem Homecoming

New Salem Baptist Church in Dukedom will be celebrating its 150th anniversary on July 14.  Former pastors will be sharing their memories.  A special person will be recognized for their faithfulness.  The celebration will begin at 11 a.m. and a meal will follow.  Please come and enjoy this time with us.  Bro. Free Health Fair

A free Health Fair will be at the Dresden Senior Center on Friday, July 19 from 8:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Many local health agencies will be at the health fair including Weakley County Rehabilitation and Nursing Center and West Tennessee Healthcare. Historical Genealogical Meeting

The Weakley County Historical & Genealogical Society will be meeting Thursday, July 11 at 7 p.m. at C. E. Weldon Library. A special program about the Court House will be presented. Come meet and visit with four of Weakley County Court House elected Officials. Learn about their positions, duties, responsibilities and departments. Our featured speakers will be Marci Floyd, Weakley County Trustee, Kim Hughey, Weakley County Clerk, April Jones,Weakley County Register of Deeds and Jennifer Killebrew, Circuit Court Clerk. Everyone is invited; refreshments will be served.

Dresden’s Farmers Market

The Dresden Farmers Market will be opened every Thursdays in addition to Saturday.  Vendors set up on Thursdays will have many of the same fresh fruits, vegetables and other products offered on Saturdays.   The hours on Thursdays will be 2 pm – 6 pm.  For more information, please call DeDe Morris at 731-364-2270 or email


Commodities To Be Distributed

U.S. Department of Agriculture Commodities will be distributed to eligible area residents on Wednesday, July 17 for the last name beginning letter A-L and Thursday 18 for the last name beginning letter M-Z.  Both from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m.  This is a Drive-Thru Community distribution.  Please do not line up before 9 a.m.


Recertification For USDA TEFAP Commodity Food Program

Northwest Tennessee Economic Development Council Weakley County Community Service Center is re-certifying applications for the USDA TEFAP Commodity Food Distributions.  Recertification has begun at the Weakley County Service Center located at 231 S. Matter of Balance

Come and join the Dresden Senior Center on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 10 a.m. til 10:30 a.m. for “Matter of Balance” chair exercise with instructor Edith Garner. This thirty minute workout will help with balance, memory, and improve muscles and joints. This is a free program. For more information call 731-364-5678.


Monthly Dance

The Dresden Senior Center will be hosting their monthly dance on Thursday, July 25th from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. The dance will feature Larry Morgan. Admission is $6 and free food will be served. For more information call 731-364-5678.


Autism Support Meeting

The Autism Support and Advocacy Group will meet in Martin at The Hearth Restaurant at 6:30 PM on Thursday, July 11. Anyone is welcome to take part in the discussion and learn more about autism.
