MEMORIAL DAY CEREMONY
Members of the Weakley County organizations will observe Memorial Day with a ceremony to be held at the Weakley County War Memorial on the Courthouse Square in Dresden on Monday, May 29 at 11 a.m.
All veterans present will salute their fallen comrades and ask that all of Weakley County Citizens pause to remember America’s fallen sons and daughters on Memorial Day.
Unity Independent Baptist Church will be holding a Revival on May 25 through May 27 at 7 p.m. Bro. David Long and Bro. John Williams will be bringing the messages. Everyone is welcome to attend.
Come dance the night away at the Dresden Senior Center on May 27, from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. Featuring Larry Morgan and Kenny Presley. Admission is $6, free food will be served. For more information call 731-364-5678.
Dr. Elaine Harriss will present her pre-college piano students in recital, Saturday, May 27 10 a.m., at the Weldon Public Library in Martin. Students performing include Gryphon Rowland of Martin, Anna Johnson of Dresden, and Grant Larcom and Elizabeth Woody of Union City. Following the program, awards will be presented and light refreshments will be served. The public is cordially invited to attend.
June 10, 8 am to 12 noon at Martin Recreation Complex Lake. If you are 14 years or younger and enjoy fishing, now is your chance! Come join the Parks & Rec. staff and the Martin Kiwanis members at the Martin Recreation Complex lake for a morning of casting and reeling. Registration begins at 8 a.m. (14 & under), 9 a.m. Registration closes; 10:10 a.m. end the 5 and under fishing; 10:45 end the 6-8 year old fishing; 11:15 a.m. end the 9-11 year old fishing; 11:45 end the 12-15 year old fishing. Registration will take place in the back of the park in the new pavilion beside the girls softball parking lot. Participants are asked to bring a pole, bait, bucket or stringer, lawn chair and something to drink. The Kiwanis Club will present several awards in four age divisions.
