TN Iris Festival Hostess Princess Pageant

The Iris Festival Hostess Princess Pageant will be held Friday, March 30 at 7 p.m.   Entry fee will be $20.  This pageant is for only girls enrolled in Dresden schools.  Forms must be turned in by Friday, March 23.  Age groups are (K-4th; 5th – 8th; 9th-12th).  For more information contact Sandra Klutts at 731-234-9159, Amy Smethwick at 731-431-3419 or Josh Pirtle at 731-514-1605.

 

TN Iris Festival Pageant

The Tennessee Iris Festival Pageant will be held Saturday, March 31.  This pageant is open to all girls in West Tennessee.  $20 entry fee and optional categories, or $35 for everything.  Registration begins at 9:30 a.m. and the first pageant will begin at 10 a.m.  Age groups are as follows (Birth-12 months 10 a.m.; 13-24 months 10:30 a.m.; 2-3 years 11 a.m.; 4-5 years 11:30 a.m.; 6-9 years 12 p.m.; 10-12 years 12:30 p.m.; 13-15 years 1 p.m.; 16-21 years 1:30 p.m.).   For more information contact Amy Smethwick at 731-431-3419, Sandra Klutts at 731-234-9159, or Josh Pirtle at 731-514-1605.

DRESDEN EASTER EGG HUNT

The City of Dresden will be hosting an Easter Egg Hunt at Dresden City Park on March 31.  Local children are invited to come out and enjoy finding the Easter eggs.  There will be four age groups; 1-2 years at 1 p.m.; 3-4 years at 1:30 p.m.; 5-7 years at 2 p.m. and 8-10 years at 2:30 p.m.  Prizes will be presented in each age group and a Golden Egg in each age group. Rain date will be April 7.

 

MUSIC SCHOLARSHIP TO BE OFFERED

The Philharmonic Music Guild will present the Harriet Fulton Music Scholarship of $500 to a graduating high school senior in Weakley County who will major in music at UTM during the 2018-19 school year.

The primary basis for selection will be musical ability and potential and an acceptable academic standing.

Auditions will be held Friday, April 20 at 4 p.m. in Room 233 at the UTM Fine Arts Building.

ADAMS CHAPEL REVIVAL

Adams Chapel Baptist Church will be holding Spring Revival March 25-28; Sunday 11 a.m. and 6 p.m.; Monday through Wednesday nights 7 p.m.  Evangelist will be Bro. James Harold Hazlewood, Pastor at Bethel Baptist Church in McKenzie.   Special Music Sunday morning:  With Willing Heart; Sunday evening, Norma Redden; Monday, Nancy Lovelace; Tuesday, The Good Times Singers; Wednesday, Stefanie Kemp.  Adams Chapel Baptist Church is located at 228 Adams Chapel Road in Dresden.   Everyone is welcome.

 

Collier Cemetery Donations

Anyone having any interest in the Collier Cemetery in the New Home Community, please send your donations to Betty Nan Carroll, 142 Strawberry Lane, Martin, TN  38237.  A gravel driveway is needed to keep the ground looking neat.

“Just Older Youth”

First Baptist Church invites Senior Adults 55+ to Just Older Youth every 3rd Tuesday of the month at 11:30 a.m. for  $5 lunch and program.  Programs range from comedy, informative, demonstrative, spiritual speakers.  Call the church office by the 2nd Thursday of each month for reservations.  731-364-2212

 

Model Train Display

C & C Railroaders of Sharon will sponsor a Model Train Display on Saturday, March 31 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Greenfield Community Room.  Running will be O Scale, Lionel, MTH, Williams, K-Line, Marx, and Industrial Rail.  Admission is free and open to the public. SUNRISE SERVICE AND EASTER CANTATA

Bible Union Missionary Baptist Church, 2852 Bible Union Road, Martin, will have Sunrise Service on Easter Sunday at 7 a.m. followed by a fellowship breakfast prior to Sunday School.  The Bible Union Choir will present an Easter cantata entitled “Blessed Redeemer” beginning at 10:45 a.m. Easter morning.   Pastor Keith Sumner invites everyone to come and be a part of the Easter services.

 

Weakley County Republican Party Campaign Kick Off

The public is invited to come Saturday March 31 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. to Festival Park in Martin and meet the Republican candidates and help kick off their campaigns.  BBQ sandwiches served for $6.  For more information call 731-225-0892.

Join us for Sunrise Service followed by breakfast and Easter Egg Hunt on Sunday, April 1 at 6:30 a.m. at New Hope Southern Baptist Church located just off Hwy 190 between Lathan and Palmersville.  Regular services will follow at 10 a.m. and 11 a.m., Bro. Mark Abbott, Interim Pastor.
