The Dollar General Literacy Foundation awarded the library in Dresden a $1,000 grant to promote summer literacy.

This funding assists the Ned R. McWherter Weakley County Library in Dresden with promoting and conducting the summer reading program “Oceans of Possibilities” to increase the reading levels of all ages. The goal this year is to increase the number of children enrolled in the program and keep those in the community that are learning to read engaged in fun activities. The library wants to enhance the reading and learning experiences of all ages throughout the summer months. This will help improve educational goals and help them reach their full potential as readers.

“It is exciting to see the impact grants from the Dollar General Literacy Foundation make throughout the country, especially as we cross the $100 million threshold in overall donations and the difference it has made to nearly six million people,” said Rick Dreiling, Dollar Generals chairman and CEO. “The Dollar General Literacy Foundation truly embodies the company’s mission of Serving Others throughout the communities we serve.”
