MARTIN (April 2) – On Saturday, the UT Martin Relay for Life Team kicked off the Relay Ribbons For Hope Fundraiser downtown at Festival Park at 11 a.m. Team members were set up selling ribbons from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. for individuals who wanted to honor or remember individuals who have fought the battle against cancer. The cost is $5 per ribbon, and $10 per ribbon to personalize it. The lavender color ribbon represents all types of cancer, and the purple ribbon represents survivors. For the entire month of April, team members will be attaching ribbons to the downtown Martin fence, and it’s their hope to fill the fence up with ribbons. Midway Florist donated the ribbon, and all proceeds will benefit the American Cancer Society. The Relay For Life event this year will be held Saturday, October 8, 2022, at the UTM Hardy-Graham Stadium from 6-10 p.m. There is a Survivor Dinner prior to the event on site from 5-6 p.m. for all cancer survivors. Survivors need to register online this year, and they will receive their T-shirts in the mail. If a survivor wishes to register, there will be registration information available downtown this weekend at the Ribbons For Hope location in Festival Park. Team members will sell ribbons again Saturday, April 9, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Festival Park near the fence. Luminaria information will also be available. If anyone has any questions, they may call or email Linda Ramsey, UT Martin Team Captain at 731-225-7729 or mramsey2@utm.edu.
