Westview Band Members Advance

Three Westview musicians are heading to Memphis after securing spots in the All West Band competition. (L to R) Amy Kang, Samantha Bates and Scarlett Newsome will travel to Memphis for a clinic February 10-12 culminating with a concert performance on Saturday, February 12 at the Cannon Center. In recent competitions, Kang, on clarinet, secured the 14th chair for grades 11-12 blue band. Bates will be playing alto sax as 4th chair for the red grades 9-10 band. Scarlett Newsome is 1st chair for the baritone sax in the blue grades 9-10 band and also made All State. The West Tennessee School Band and Orchestra Association (WTSBOA) has been promoting school music since 1939 and musicians from Martin schools have been participating since its inception.
