This month’s Greenfield Book Jackets will be held (today) Wednesday, September 8 at 10 a.m. in the library. Members are discussing, “Mixed Signals,” by Liz Curtis Higgs. We welcome new members; for more information, contact the library.

Attention children ages 4-12 years old: During the month of September stop by the library and check out our newly-painted mural. We will be having a contest on who can name the most characters on the wall (no adult assistance please). Turn your list into the library by September 30 at 5 p.m. and on October 1, we will announce the winner.

As a reminder, due to COVID-19, some of our library programs are on hold, except for our Monthly Book Club and Twisted Stitchers (Wednesdays at 1 p.m.). We are still offering wireless printing, faxing and copying and ILL (Interlibrary Loan) services to our patrons. Don’t forget about using R.E.A.D.S. Overdrive (Libby App) for thousands of books and check out all the current magazines they offer online. Please check out the Libby App; there have been some changes made to help better serve our patrons. Remember we do issue “eCards” for people who only wish to access online books; call the library for more information.

We are asking everyone, vaccinated or not, to wear a mask inside the library. This is not mandated at this time, but we prefer you wear one. We are trying to keep the spread of this virus down, which we all know that in enclosed buildings, there is a greater chance of spreading this virus. We ask that you use our hand sanitizer, so you will be allowed to pick your own materials for check out. Adults must accompany children who enter the building at this time. We currently have four computers available for patrons needing to check email, print, file unemployment, etc., but no social media. The computers are available for a 45-minute session. Don’t forget, we continue to offer the Tennessee Boating Exam with no appointment necessary. We do not offer this testing after 4 p.m. We continue to limit the number of patrons in the library at one time due to the size of our library. We continue to use sanitizers on the computers and counters trying to keep it safe in the library.

Dr. Nathan Porter Library is lending Chromebooks and Hotspots to cardholders ages 18 years and older, who have accounts in good standing (no fines overdue items and no history of a delinquency). Since access to a Chromebook and Hotspot benefits the whole household, all members of a household must have accounts in good standing (no fines or overdue items and no history of a delinquency) to be eligible to check-out a Chromebook or Hotspot. Borrowers must provide a government or state-issued photo identification at check out. Please contact the library for more information.

We will be hosting an iPhone and iPad assistance event on Saturday, September 11, from 9-11 a.m.

Stop by and pick up a monthly newsletter for more information and a list of our new materials.
