Firefighter Earns Kiwanis District-wide Recognition

The Martin Kiwanis Club nominated Josh Wilson for the Louisiana-Mississippi-West Tennessee Kiwanis District Fireman of the Year. Wilson has been a part of the Kiwanis family in the past as he has served as President of the Builders Club at Martin Middle School and President of the Key Club at Westview High School. Wilson has been with the Martin Fire Department since 2015. He responds to all fire and EMS calls in emergency and non-emergency situations. He also teaches classes within the community. In addition, Wilson has served as a volunteer for the Sharon Fire Department since 2017.

Wilson is as emergency medical services Lieutenant and Lead Firefighter and his duties include the following: managing and developing CPR training programs, ordering supplies for the Martin Fire Department and ambulance service, coordinating medical licensure renewals, scheduling CEU classes, and overseeing medical operations in emergency and non- emergency situations.

Since 2015, his educational background has taken him up through the ranks of Firefighter 1 & 2, Pump Driv- er Operator, Instructor 1, Fires & Life Safety Educator 1, Fire Officer 1 & 2, and Incident Safety Officer. In the State of Tennessee he is a PEARS Provider, BLS Instructor, SIDS Instructor and an EMR Instructor.

“The Martin Kiwanis Club recently learned through our District Newsletter that Josh Wilson won the Louisiana-Mississippi-West Tennessee Kiwanis District Fireman of the Year Award. We are so very proud of Josh. He will receive a plaque and he will be allowed to choose his favorite charity, and the Kiwanis District will write a check for $250 to be given to them because he won this award,” Martin Kiwanian Linda Ramsey noted.
