Greenfield Man Shot By Companion While Riding 4-Wheeler

GREENFIELD (August 30) — A Greenfield woman is incarcerated at the Weakley County Detention Center after allegedly shooting a local man over the weekend.

According to Investigator Captain Randall McGowan of the Weakley County Sheriff's Department, Tera Ann Alvarez, 39, aka Tera Ann Sanders, who resides on Forrest Street in Greenfield, is charged with aggravated assault, after allegedly shooting Johnny M. White, 51, of Old Dresden Road, Greenfield, in the leg with a .380 pistol.

The shooting incident occurred Sunday, August 30, 2020, as Alvarez and White were riding four-wheelers in a wooded area near the intersection of Stafford Store Road and Shades Bridge Road between Greenfield and McKenzie.

At approximately 1:36 p.m., the staff at West Tennessee Healthcare Volunteer Hospital in Martin reported the shooting to the Weakley County Sheriff’s Department. The victim was later transferred to the Elvis Presley Trauma Center in Memphis.

Statements were taken from several witnesses who observed the shooting.

Sheriff’s deputies recovered the weapon during the investigation.

She is being held on a $10,000 bond in the Weakley County Detention Center.

Alvarez is ordered to appear in Weakley County General Sessions Court Wednesday, September 2, (today) for her preliminary hearing.
