MARTIN (August 25) — A two-vehicle collision resulted in injuries to five motorists.

According to a Martin Police report filed by patrol officers John C. Fulcher and Rachel Green, the crash occurred at approximately 4:14 p.m. Monday, August 24.

The report states, 18-year-old Zoey A. Sims of Williston, Tennessee, was traveling west on Gardner Hynds Road in her 2013 Chevrolet Camery. Sims states after stopping at a stop sign, she failed to see an oncoming vehicle. When Sims attempted to turn left, she pulled out in front of a 2013 Dodge Journey, driven by 73-year-old Bonnie S. Arrington of Union City, which was southbound on Skyhawk Parkway.

The resulting collision caused the Dodge to run off the right side of the roadway and come to rest in a ditch.

Both drivers had suspected minor injuries and were transported from the scene to West Tennessee Healthcare Volunteer Hospital by Martin EMS.

According to Martin Assistant Police Chief Phillip Fuqua, three passengers in Sims’ vehicle also received minor injuries. They are: 18-year-old Rachel L. Dugan of Sparta, who was transported by ground ambulance; 18-year-old Austin H. Thompson of New Johnsonville, who had suspected injuries but was not transported; and 18-year-old Dionte Anthony Markell Chandler of Knoxville, who was also transported by EMS.

All were reportedly wearing seatbelts.

The two vehicles sustained disabling damage and were towed from the scene by wrecker.
