ROGER BOANE 1955 — 2020

COLUMBIA, Tenn. — Roger Andrew “Buddy” Boane, 64, of Columbia, Tenn. died June 12, 2020 at his residence surrounded by loved ones.

Born on October 7, 1955 in Martin, Tennessee, Buddy was the son of the late Andrew and Dorthella Boane. He graduated from the University of Tennessee at Martin, Tennessee with a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice. Buddy served as a police officer for 35 years. He started his career with South Fulton Police Department then moved to his hometown of Martin, Tennessee to serve with Martin Police Department then, UTM Police Force and finished his career with Columbia Police Department. During this time, he served as the D.A.R.E. Officer for Weakley County and was on the honor guard at Columbia Police Department. Buddy was a Black Belt in several martial arts, and an avid fisherman. He loved spending time with friends and family, but most of all he loved spending time with his grandchildren. He loved his dogs Molly, Tiger, and Toby. He was a faithful member of Highland Park Baptist Church and loved his church family.

Buddy was preceded in death by his father: Andrew Boane, mother: Dorthella Boane; brother: Joseph Allen Boane; sister: Ladonna Louise Boane. He is survived by his wife: Tina Boane; brother: William David (Denise) Boane; sister: Elizabeth Renea Gaba; children: Chris (Rita) Boane, Cassie (Jeff) Owens, Cayla (Gregory) Dickson and Stephen Mencer; and grandchildren: Austin Jefferson, Jalee Boane, Keely Boane, Aubri boane, Elizabeth Owens, Jonathan Owens, Rachel Ceiga, Adam Ceiga and Christian Ceiga.

Visitation was Monday, June 15, 2020 at Williams Funeral Home, Columbia. Service were Tuesday, June 16, 2020 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Bobby McCord officiating and Wilson Henderson, Franklin Gardner and Jalee Boane speaking.

The family gives special thanks to the staff of Avalon Hospice.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to The Highland Park Baptist Church “Press on Fund”.
