WEAKLEY COUNTY (March 31) — Municipal leaders across Weakley County are making preparations to transmit their April city board meetings over the internet by various means.

According to Dresden City Recorder Jennifer Branscum, plans call for upcoming meetings to be provided to the public over Facebook Live. The meetings will be limited to the mayor, aldermen and city recorder. A conference call line will be provided for any alderman or department supervisors not comfortable attending in person with the proper distancing enforced. The media and public may view the April board meeting via Facebook Live beginning at 6 p.m. on Monday, April 6. A copy of the minutes of the meeting is available to the media and the public within two days of the meeting upon request.

Martin Mayor Randy Brundige has announced upcoming board meetings are available to the public via a program called Zoom, which will broadcast the proceedings live.

The Weakley County School Board will also meet via the internet utilizing Zoom. To observe the meeting and hear the comments of board members live, go to the following link https://us04web.zoom.us/j/897943385 and type in the meeting ID: 897 943 385. The meeting will also be recorded (audio).

As of press time, no decision has been made regarding which electronic means will be used to make the Gleason City Board meeting available to the public.

Likewise, the City of Greenfield has not decided which method to utilize for their next board meeting.

The City of Sharon canceled its April board meeting and does not plan to meet until May.

As for Commission meetings, Weakley County Mayor Jake Bynum stated it has not yet been decided which computer program will be used for upcoming committee and commission meetings. He noted, since the Commission doesn’t meet until May, it might not be necessary to utilize electronic means to hold the meetings, because the COVID-19 virus may no longer be a threat.
