Carroll Academy Closes for Two Weeks

Carroll Academy Serves students in Carroll, Benton, Henry, Weakley and Henderson Counties in Tennessee.

HUNTINGDON, Tenn - Carroll Academy is closing for two weeks effective Monday, March 16, 2020.

Carroll County General Sessions Judge Logan and school administrator Randy Hatch decided to close the alternative school.

The CDC actually suggested all schools close for eight weeks or longer. CA administrators will re-evaluate at the end of the two weeks.

Public schools in Benton and Henry (Henry County, not Paris Special) at this time are closed for the same two weeks.

Last week, Hatch developed a contingency plan which includes continued academic classwork and intensive court supervision of students. School officials are able to monitor CA students easier than the public schools because enrollment is about 60 students in grades 6-12.

The Tennessee Supreme Court ordered no in-person court until April 1, which includes juvenile court. Many of the students are court-remanded to attend Carroll Academy.
