Five Skyhawks Claim Cobalt Golf All-America Scholar Accolades for 2023-24 Campaign

The Golf Coaches Association of America unveiled its NCAA Division I Cobalt Golf All-America Scholars for the 2023-24 season and the University of Tennessee at Martin landed five student-athletes on the prestigious list.           

Skyhawk representatives Luke Caldwell, Dax Isbell, Ethan Ray, Jacob Uehlein and Jonathan Xoinis were amongst the 532 names from 180 NCAA Division I schools to make the cut. To be eligible for a Cobalt Golf All-America Scholar nomination, an individual must be a sophomore, junior or senior both academically and athletically in NCAA Division I, must participate in at least 50 percent of their team’s competitive rounds, have a stroke average under 76.0 and maintain a minimum cumulative Grade Point Average of 3.2. A recipient must also be of high moral character and be in good standing at their college or university.         

UT Martin was one of just 25 NCAA Division I institutions to have at least five honorees in 2023-24, joining the likes of Cal Poly, California Baptist, Duke, Georgia Southern, Idaho, Illinois State, Long Island, Marquette, Marshall, Mercer, Michigan, Missouri State, Pacific, Southern Illinois, SIUE, St. Thomas, Texas Tech, Toledo, Texas State, UNC Greensboro, Vanderbilt, Villanova, Wyoming and Yale.           

Overall, the Skyhawks have boasted 23 GCAA All-America Scholars since 2016. Uehlein extends his school record with the fourth such award of his career while Ray is just the seventh UT Martin golfer to win this honor multiple times. The trio of Caldwell, Isbell and Xoinis bring home the award for the first time in their collegiate careers.           

Uehlein completed his Skyhawk eligibility last season as a graduate as the Tullahoma, Tenn. native was responsible for a 74.7 scoring average with a 3.9 GPA while majoring in agricultural business and business administration.           

A rising redshirt senior, Ray secured a stroke average of 74.8 in 2023-24. The Collierville, Tenn. native sports a 3.6 GPA as an accounting major.           

Xoinis approaches his redshirt senior campaign after a 74.2 scoring average last season. In the classroom, the Chattanooga, Tenn. product has collected a 3.89 GPA while majoring in engineering.           

Hailing from Cookeville, Tenn., Caldwell carded a 75.4 stroke average as a sophomore in 2023-24. He has earned a 3.53 career GPA as a health and human performance major.           

Isbell came away with a team-best 72.2 scoring average in his sophomore campaign last season. The Cumming, Ga. native has accrued a 3.86 GPA while majoring in sport business at UT Martin.
