Sidonia Volunteer Fire Department Annual Thanksgiving Luncheon
The Sidonia Community Volunteer Fire Department will hold its annual Thanksgiving luncheon fundraiser on Sunday, Nov. 5. Tickets for the drive-through pickup of prepared meals are $12 in advance and may be purchased at Sharon Hardware and Furniture in downtown Sharon or from various community members.
Liberty Baptist Harvest Day
Liberty Baptist Church, located at 2912 Liberty Rd., Dresden, will host a Harvest Day event on Sunday, Oct. 22. Sunday school begins at 10 a.m. The worship service will start at 11 a.m. Following the worship service, a meal will be served beginning at 12 p.m. KT&T Southern Gospel Group will provide special entertainment beginning at 1:30 p.m. Pete Staples is the pastor for Liberty Baptist Church.
Northwest Tennessee Beekeepers Association Monthly Meeting
The monthly meeting of the Northwest Tennessee Beekeepers Association is planned for 7 p.m. (today) Thursday, Oct. 19, in the John H. Wooten Academic complex classroom in the UT Martin Ag Pavilion, located at 111 Moody Ave., Martin.
This month’s speaker is Bennie Leslie from the Tennessee Beekeepers Association. He will be speaking on, “The advantages of joining the association.” The meeting is open to everyone. So come a little early and enjoy the fellowship and the information about beekeeping. Those with questions may call DaWayne Tarkington at 731-886-0007.
Greenfield First Baptist Upcoming Events
A Fall Festival for all ages will be held Saturday, Oct. 21, from 3-6 p.m. at Greenfield First Baptist Church, located at 3127 N. Meridian St. in Greenfield. There will be free jumpers, games, food, and hayrides. Everyone is invited to attend.
In addition to the Fall Festival, a Revival Kick Off Fish Fry will take place from 5-7 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. at the Greenfield First Baptist Church.
Sunday, Oct. 22 kicks off the Greenfield First Baptist Church’s Fall Revival which runs through Wednesday, Oct. 25. The Sunday night service will begin at 6 p.m. Services will begin at 7 p.m. Monday through Wednesday. Dr. Clay Hallmark from FBC Lexington will be preaching with guest worship leaders each night. A nursery will be provided each night. Tuesday night, Oct. 24, will be Youth Night with a Pizza Party beginning at 6 p.m. in the church’s Youth Building.
Harvest Day will be held Sunday, Oct. 29 at Greenfield First Baptist Church. Sunday School will begin at 10 a.m., with and worship services starting at 10:30 a.m. with a Gaither-Style, Old-Fashioned Gospel Singing during Worship. The church’s Harvest Day offering goal is $75,000, with a Sunday School high-attendance goal of 275. A potluck meal will be held following the service. Community members are welcome to attend any of the above-mentioned events.
Leadership Weakley County Program
It is time once again for the Weakley County Chamber of Commerce’s annual Leadership Weakley County program openings for 2024. Applicants for this program will be accepted now through Nov. 11, 2023, or when the class is full. The cutoff for applicants is at 8 a.m. that day.

Spaghetti Fundraiser for Dresden Cross Country
A spaghetti dinner fundraiser is for Sunday, Oct. 22, at the Elks Lodge in Dresden for the Dresden Cross Country team from 4-7 p.m. Plates are $10 each. Carry-out plates are available. The Elks Lodge is located at 449 Poplar St., Dresden.
American Legion Fundraiser Events
From 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. at Bob’s Discount Pharmacy, 8720 Hwy. 22, Dresden, on Thursday, Oct. 26, there will be a bake sale. The bake sale is sponsored by the Wreaths Across America – Dresden coordinator Sue Priest and the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 94.
After the bake sale from 5 p.m. until sold out, the Dresden American Legion Post #94 will host a chili supper. The cost is $10. Dinner includes chili, pimento cheese sandwiches, cornbread, a dessert and beverage. This event is an eat-in or carry out is available. Pre-orders are recommended for those picking up an order. Call Pam at 731-336-8227 to pre-order. American Legion Post #94 is located at 8288 Hwy. 22, Dresden. The chili supper is sponsored by Dresden American Legionnaires Post #94, under the command of Kenneth Gatewood and the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 94, president Pam Bennett.
Weakley County Bicentennial Bash
Downtown Dresden is the place to be Saturday afternoon into the evening as Weakley County celebrates its 200th birthday. There will be a birthday cake, inflatables, food trucks and more family-friendly events starting at 5 p.m. A concert by the Grammy award-winning Appalachian Road Show takes place from 6-8 p.m. The birthday bash concludes with fireworks beginning between 8:30-9 p.m.
Bring blankets and lawn chairs and settle in for a night of celebration as Weakley County turns 200 years old. The events will take place around the court square in Dresden, located at 116 West Main St.
WCMES Customer Appreciation Lunches
The Weakley County Municipal Electric System is saying thank you to its customers by offering free lunches at local city halls. On Tuesday, Oct. 24, from 11:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m., WCMES will be giving out lunches at Greenfield City Hall.
On Wednesday, Oct. 25, from 11:30 a.m. until 1 p.m., WCMES will be offering lunches at Gleason City Hall. All are invited.
Swanky Bee Social Cafe Ribbon Cutting and Grand Opening
Weakley County’s newest pizza parlor will have its official ribbon-cutting ceremony and grand opening with the Weakley County Chamber of Commerce beginning at 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 26. Swanky Bee is located at 515 Hwy. 118 in Dresden.
Magnolia Clinic Ribbon Cutting and Grand Opening
On Friday, Oct. 27, at 1 p.m., Martin’s newest medical clinic, Magnolia Clinic, will host the Weakley County Chamber of Commerce, its members and the community with a grand opening and ribbon cutting. Magnolia Clinic is located at 215 Hawks Rd.; Suite 6 in Martin.
