It was a track meet at Halls last Thursday night, but in the end, Gleason prevailed 50-44. The Bulldogs won’t be going to post-season, but a winning campaign is a nice consolation.
Gleason coach Noah Lampkins was okay with the team’s finish.
“We ended the year with a win,” he said. “You can’t complain about that.”
Kerstin Gustafson had a big game for Gleason, catching two touchdown passes and running for another. He also picked off two passes. His last interception ended the game.
Gage Byington returned a kickoff for a touchdown. Drake Lehmkuhl had an interception. Drake Lovell also rushed for a TD.
The Bulldogs bid farewell to six seniors.
“They had a receiver we struggled to cover, but we struggled on defense all year.:
Lampkins said the winning mark is something his team can build on.
“Next year, things may open up for us offensively.”
Halls finishes at 2-8.
