Sharon Man Charged In Shooting Incident

A Sharon man has been arrested on weapon charges in connection with a weekend shooting incident in Martin that resulted in the victim being transported to a local hospital for treatment of gunshot wounds.

On Saturday, Sep. 16, 2023, at approximately 10:59 a.m., Martin police officers responded to Volunteer Community Hospital in reference to a 911 call from Orlando J. Saxon, 37, of Martin. 

Upon arrival, officers discovered that Saxon had been shot twice with a small caliber handgun in front of 57 Lakeview Circle in Martin. Saxon was treated and released from the hospital.

An investigation revealed that Devon Lamont Henry, 19, of Sharon, shot the victim with a .22 caliber handgun. 

Martin police officers located Mr. Henry in Martin on Sunday, Sep. 17, 2023. 

According to a court affidavit, Henry admitted to shooting an individual twice with a .22 caliber handgun. Lt. Kelly Hendon said, “In doing this, the offender placed people in imminent danger or serious bodily injury.”  

The suspect was taken into custody and charged with Reckless Endangerment involving serious injury and use of a deadly weapon. 

Henry was issued a criminal summons ordering him to appear in Weakley County General Sessions Court on Monday, Oct. 9, 2023, for his arraignment.
