House Fire Claims Life of Greenfield Resident, Injures Another

One person was killed and another injured in a house fire near Greenfield over the weekend.
Greenfield Fire Chief Bob Dudley stated his department was dispatched to a structure fire at 211 Buckner Ditch Road, just outside the Greenfield city limits, shortly before 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 5.
According to Chief Dudley, the house was fully involved when they arrived.
A total of 35 personnel responded to the scene, including firefighters, emergency medical technicians and law enforcement officers.
Those assisting included Sharon and Bradford Fire Departments, along with the Tennessee Highway Patrol, Weakley County Sheriff’s Office, Greenfield Police Department, Weakley County Ambulance Service, and the Weakley County Municipal Electric System.
Greenfield firefighters fought the blaze utilizing a pumper-tanker and a pumper; Sharon Fire Department provided a pumper and pumper-tanker; and Bradford firefighters brought a pumper-tanker.
One of the residents was transported to West Tennessee Healthcare-Volunteer Hospital in Martin by Weakley County Ambulance Service and another was found deceased inside the home.
The names of the victims are not being released at this time, pending notification of family members.
An investigation by the Greenfield Fire Department and the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation determined the kitchen stove was the source of the fire.
Chief Dudley stated the single-story, wood-frame, structure was a total loss.
