A husband and wife living in the Sidonia Community were found dead at their residence Sunday morning, Oct. 23, after what authorities believe was a murder-suicide.
Samantha Hodges, 42, and Charles Hodges, 46, were both declared dead at the scene on Adams Road.
According to Weakley County Sheriff Terry McDade, evidence indicates that Ms. Hodges was trying to leave the residence in a vehicle when Mr. Hodges shot her through the driver’s side window with a muzzle-loaded rifle.
It is believed Mr. Hodges used the same weapon to kill himself shortly thereafter.
McDade said that a 911 call was made around 8:30 a.m. and deputies arrived on the scene at around 8:45 a.m., though Sharon Police Chief Mark Kimsey was first on the scene.
According to McDade, there were no children or other family members at the residence at the time of the incident, which is still under investigation.
