Child injured when struck by vehicle in Martin

A six-year-old boy was injured when he was struck by a vehicle Friday afternoon, Oct. 7, on South Lindell Street in Martin.

According to the report from the Martin Police Department, the child got away from his mother and ran out into the street and into the path of a 2021 Jeep that was traveling southbound on S. Lindell Street.

The child was transported by ambulance from the scene to Volunteer Hospital to be treated for suspected minor injuries.

It was noted in an email from the MPD that officers had heard that the child was treated for minor scrapes and bruises and then released, but that could not be confirmed as of press time.

No charges were listed against the driver of the vehicle in the report.
