Union City Hosts Cross Country Events

UNION CITY (September 15) – Area high school cross country teams gathered at Union City High School to take part in the 5k Golden Tornado XC Invitational Tuesday, September 15.

From Weakley County, Dresden, Westview and Greenfield teams competed in the boys’ and girls’ races. From Carroll County, Huntingdon and West Carroll teams competed.

Westview had Houston Baker come in 26th with a time of 21:20. Ethan Burns came in 43rd at 24:12 and Abdurrahan Obdate finished 57th, with 26:55. Mason Stout completin the race in 59th with a time of 27:42.

West Carroll’s four runners were Jaycan Martin, who finished 25th at 21:15 and Edward Humpries finishing in 41st place at 23:56. Teammates Wade Smith and Juan Bernal completed the race at 65th and 66th respectively.

Camden’s Will Douglas finished first in the boys’ race.

In the girls’ 5k race, Greenfield’s Ginny Archie finished in ninth place with a time of 23:50. Her teammates Destiny Griffin finished 24th at 25:45, Reese Biggs came in 47th at 28:32, Amy Mitchell and Kyleigh Pruitt finished 68th and 69th.

Dresden had Parker Ferrell completing the race in 10th place at 23:50; Lily Roberts in 30th place at 26:43 and Abigail Rother finished in 67th with a time of 33:37.

Westview saw Scarlett Naile finish in 18th place at 25:13 and Macy Brawley came in 46th at 28:30. Latissh Sanders finished 63rd at 32:37.

Finishing from West Carroll High School was Natalie Moore coming in 42nd at 27:59. Noelle Roberts came in 49th at 28:44. Clair Joyner finished 59th place with a time of 32:17. Caitlyn Brooks came in 64th with a time of 33:07 and Clair Browning T 33:18.

Taking the first position in the girls’ race was Mary Scott Tritt from Crockett County High School.
